TASK ANALYSIS
Step 1: Take out the kettle, clean the kettle, prepare to boil water
Pain point: If the kettle is not used for a long time, the gap will become difficult to clean because of its shape
Step 2: Prepare the tea, pour the tea into the cup
Pain points: Adjust the ratio of tea and water
Step 3: Clean the tea for the first time, Hold the handle of
the kettle/teapot and pour hot water into the cup by hand
Pain points: If the kettle is too heavy, it will be difficult for the elderly or users with injuries on their wrists to lift the kettle
Step 4: Wait for the tea leaves to brew and taste the tea
Step 5: After tasting the tea, pour hot water from the kettle again
Pain points: If the kettle is too heavy, it will be difficult for the elderly or users with wrist injuries to lift the kettle
Step 6: Drink tea (repeat several times)
Step 7: Clean tea cups/kettles, and dispose tea
Pain points: How to get better treatment of tea (food waste)
The rounded corners of the teapot are difficult to clean
PROBLEM
The design aim to allow the elderly or users with wrist injuries to easily lift the teapot (due to the heavy weight of most teapots/kettles)
DESIGN BRIEF
MUST
1. The water bottle must be easily picked up by the user.
2. Most of the users in particular are the elderly, and thew way of using it should be simple
SHOULD
1. Easy access to it or exit
2.Easy to clean and store
2. Teapot/kettle needs to keep warm
COULD
1. Choose sustainable materials
2. With heating function
PROTOTYPING
DESIGN FEATURES
The shape of the product changes from a semicircle, a geometric shape, somehow switch the concept of traditional Chinese teapots: from a round shape to a contemporary industrial style.
The straight line divides the semicircle into two parts, and one part is combined with the bottom to form the teapot itself. The space formed by the spout of the teapot and the arc can be used for placing cup.
PRODUCT IN USE
Hold the handle and pour the water along the arc of the radius of the tea pot without lifting it.
A raised part at the bottom to prevent the teapot from slipping off during the pouring tea.
It can follow the arc of the teapot without twisting the wrist, it can be poured out completely at 90 degrees, and it is easy to clean due to the variation of shape.
